Class 2 License Course NZ Heavy Vehicle Licensing
- Get your class 2 full license immediately after getting your class 2 learner license.
- If you book our class through HFC Finance it will include Worktime, logbook & fatigue.
Course Aim
In order to obtain a class 2 Driver’s License without having to wait 6 months from time, a Class 2 Learner License is obtained.
At HFC Finance, we will coach you on the theory and access your skills to drive a medium rigid vehicle with a gross laden weight between 6,000 kg and 18,000 kg or over it with more than 2 axels.
What Do I Need to have?
A Class 2 Learner license obtained from licensing agency.
What documents are needed to get a Class 2 Learner License?
- You must have held a full NZ Class 1 (car) license for at least 6 months.
- You need to get a medical certificate.
- Apply for class 2 learner license agency.
How long does it take to complete the course?
At HFC Finance we consider your time value so we will courier you pre-course material, we recommend booking at least one week before to allow enough time to complete it before the course.
- Half day will be scheduled covering unit standards 17574 operating a class 2 rigid vehicle.
- One day will be scheduled to cover unit standard 24089 worktimes, logbook, and fatigue if required.
- The practical part will be of 3 hours of coaching with one hour of assessment.

What happens when I pass the course?
- Take the certificate we allocate you to give to a licensing agency and they will help you apply to have your license amended to include your new full Class 2 license. We recommend that you present this within 60 days.
- Contact us in 3 months or 6 months to go for class 3 or class 4 license
Class 2 license pre-requisites
- You will need your class 2 learner license and we will need a copy before booking.
- You must have held your full NZ Class 1 (car) license for at least 6 months
- Head to your nearest licensing agency with a current medical certificate. Pass your theory test and contact us back.
- Successful completion of worktime, logbook & fatigue unit standards 24089
- Truck and transmission differ from branch to branch. Do let us know your preference.
